Playing with Colors
Choosing the right color scheme for a new rug is just as crucial as picking a design.
Geometric carpet patterns are versatile and can be incorporated into your space using an array of color palettes. A monochromatic scheme provides a more cohesive feel. But don’t be afraid to go for bolder colors and experiment.
Here are some ways you can consider playing with color:
Neutral Foundations
For a minimalist or Scandinavian feel, try neutral hues like gray, beige, white, and cream. They’re understated and offer versatility, helping other items in the room stand out. These also work well in combination with wood or stone flooring.
Pops of Color
You can also create visual interest and vibrancy by incorporating geometric carpet patterns with bursts of color, like a deep red or electric blue.
But make sure that any pops of color on your area rug also reflect other color accents in your space. That might be pillows, throw blankets, artwork, or decorative objects. This approach is great when your living room’s design skews neutral, but you still want a splash of brightness.
Tone on Tone
For a subtle touch, experiment with tonal variations of the same color family to achieve a calming, refined effect.
